Since there are not a lot of food travel books out there on PNG I will defer most comments until after I return from there in March 2018. HOWEVER, as a preliminary guide on what to see, what to expect and the quality of lodging, guides and destinations it seems to be pretty good. This is a rapidly changing part of the world so updates are infrequent and mostly dated. Lonely Planet guides are a reliable source for basic info so I expect this to be the same.

information on Solomon Islands rather limited
These areas drown you in old culture, scenery, and unique experiences. While transportation can be challenging, the adventurous will have a great experience. This area is definitely not your “cruise ship experienceâ€.You are going to be on your own so you need to book tour guides and accommodations ahead of time. Waiting until you check out the options is not a good idea because in some places you don’t have much of a choice and the planners have already booked the good stuff. That’s why I like all the details that this book provides. There are plenty of maps. The color photos in the front show you some of the better places.
Lots of detail, color maps, great detail....pretty much everything a traveler to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands could ask for short of an actual guide.
