A lovely alphabet book for anyone who loves cars.
Many young children love things on wheels. This book features all things vehicular. And they learn the alphabet, too! I taught pre-school and kindergarten and loved to find new ways to teach the letter sounds and this book does it. Would say the letter sounds rather than the names, as when they learn to read words, they have to know the sounds. So this book can reinforce them.The illustrations or stylish and fun. Liked the D is for double-decker - check out who's riding in it! The L for limousine is a great page, too. The author-illustrator is talented. What a clever idea. He should do a separate book ABC for Construction Equipment and ABC for Trains, perhaps.Good job!
There are a lot of car/truck-centric books out there and even more ABC books but for some reason this book still feels fresh and interesting to read. I love how they've related letters on the page (E & F are empty & full, L & M are a limo surrounded by a motorcade) instead of a series of unrelated letters and a corresponding truck/car. The illustrations have lots of funny & interesting little details for kids to explore, which makes it great for them to puruse on their or have read to them. I don't think it's a secret among adults that some kids books are just boring after 1 or 2 reads (which usually end up hidden in a drawer after a month) but every time my kid brings this one, I'm happy to read it. No hidden drawer for this book!
