Bravo!A most excellent follow up to the prior novel. Our story starts off almost exactly from the last page. From there it continues on with the further adventures of our Hyllis family and especially their son and daughter: Tarc and Daussies. Here we learn that Daussie has also inherited the talents of her parents...but she also can teleport small masses.NO spoilers, but that ability does prove useful later on in many subtle ways. Our family now has to deal with the repercussions of the last novel events and this novel is an excellent follow up to it. Dahners does a smash up job of giving us a bit more insight into the world at large, the peoples and the area outside of the town.I didn't hesitate to pay the 3.99 because he's just that good.My only thought about Daussie and her small mass teleport power is : She is now the deadliest close combat fighter EVER. Her brother may have range deadliness, but she on the other hand can do deadlier things at close range. After all...how much mass does it take to remove from the brain to lobotamize them? How much mass does it take to remove from the optic nerves to blind someone? How much mass to remove from pulmonary vessels near the heart to cause a heart attack? How much mass does it really take to remove from the human spinal cord to paralyze someone? My personal guess: not much more than less than a gram if at all..Because like Dahners' wrote: the closer she is the more mass she can move and faster....and you don't need to remove much to cause alot of mayhem in human body...Mr. Dahners, You keep writing, I'll keep buying.
Writing reviews really riles Randy! Rhythmically rapping relatively resounding regurgitated reasons requesting readership wrecks recreation. Responsible readers respond, Randy, “ resisting wrangled responsibility reeks!†Reconnoitering responsible reviews, Randy relents. Repentance, RE: Retraction...(Reasond revelation! Relationships require rapidly repeated revolutions).Reading responsibly requires rabid resourcefulness, ruthless resolve, radical recklessness .Teleporter, like the rest of this series was 1, easy to read 2, easy to enjoy 3, easy to connect to the characters 4, easy to believe 5, hard to put down. Read it I did, with no Regrets
In Teleporter, the second book in the Hyllis family trilogy, the youngest daughter, Daussie, has developed her 'talents'. Daussie can use her talent to see inside things as well as teleport small object a short distance. In one case, she uses her talent to remove gall stones from one of her mother's patients. As in the case of 'Telekinetic', this story moves along at a fair clip but doesn't have any nail-biting cliffhangers to keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters slyly conceal their talents from the local population while continuing their healing practice and warding off the invading force of evil men who have taken over their town. The author maintains the pace of the story throughout and holds the reader's interest. I found that, like all the other works by Mr. Dahners, this book is intriguing enough that I simply wanted more. I will start the next book in the series, 'Healers' as soon as I am done here.I recommend this book.
Dahner's Bonesetter series, the first book of his that I read, turned out to be a close runner-up for the PERN series written by Anne McCaffrey. I never hoped to find another author who wrote in the same fascinating and intelligent fashion as she did but, in her sad absence, Lawrence Dahner has turned out to be my new favorite author. I started with just the first in his Bonesetter series. From there I immediately read and immensely enjoyed, the remaining two books in this series of his. I then went on to read all the HEALERS books, with just as much satisfaction, and am now going to try out his Ell Donsaii and Evolution series's. I don't expect to be at all disappointed. This man has a style that keeps you reading well into the evening and feeling like you have sunk deep into whatever world he has created in the series you are reading.
Teleporter by Laurence Daheners is the second book in the Hyllis family series. If you have not read the first you really need to read Telekinetic prior to reading Teleporter to get the full enjoyment.I really liked the story. Unlike another review I did not find the story slow starting or the characters lacking moral strength. I enjoyed all the characters and could relate even in abstract to their motivation for doing what they did. These are not two dimensional characters. The story is set in a post apocalypse world. The world has recovered but a lot of the advanced technology and government is gone. This story is mostly shown mostly through the POV Hyllis son and daughter and starts the day after the previous book ends. The town the Hyllis' live in is recovering from an attack in which the Hyllis family played keys roles in saving the town. Unfortunately, the town think the Hyllis' were aiding the attackers. There is a lot of emotional and character growth shown in the son and daughter as the family is subjected to the not so good side of people. This also shows you the power of family and what people working together can do.I really recommend this story for people who like emotion in their adventures.
I enjoyed this book it is well written and paced nicely. The Hyllis family has been forced to leave their homes but they continue to grow stronger as a family. The MC has started to take charge and grow into his role, but he is doing it in such a way as to make everyone miss the fact he is responsible for the good things that happen. Overall it is a good book.
