Not much in the way of actually useful content here, but it is being well marketed with lots of hype, if only it delivered even half of what it implies it will.I'm all for self promotion, but this is a bit much, a third of the book is 'Look at me I'm Special'Then you have all the advertising and affiliate links, selling all kinds of help - let's make a buck off the struggling author...Without the hype and sales pages, there is not much left, even less for someone who can smell the wolves, and this is a wolf waiting to feed on your wallet.
As someone that’s been down this road, I can tell you how quickly you can get lost in a sea of information. Some of that information may be good and much of it is plain bad advice.If you’re want to author a book, align yourself with someone that knows how to succeed at self-publishing. That is exactly what you’re going to get with “Book Publishing for Authorsâ€.The author shared his own vast experience as a self-published author; he also shared wisdom of many other authors of many best sellers.What that means to the reader is you are going to get a formula, that if followed will yield the results of a best seller. You are getting the step-by-step process that leads to success in writing and publishing your own book.In this book, the author brings you the essentials for success. You’ll get everything from the mindset and thought process to the actual step-by-step work that has to happen to get the results every author seeks.I recommend “Book Publishing for Authorsâ€. First off, one of the things I liked about this book was all the bonuses. There’s something to be said about how the author utilized modern technology to give the reader “extrasâ€; not the least of which was a free web class. Mr. Brodie shares the lessons that led to his own success.This book was really helpful to me because writing my books was easy compared to the job of marketing. He talks about the importance of a good cover, editing and how outlining can serve as talking points that then can become chapters. Another helpful thing for me was his discussion of what should be covered in the front matter, the importance of a website as a landing page and managing bad reviews. Other very useful information included which sites to use for promotion and includes case studies. For those moving from e-books to audiobooks Mr Brodie discusses the advantages and disadvantages of both. Another thing I hadn’t seen is how to manage offers for books in a series to build readership and utilizing sneak previews and first chapters to entice the reader. Handling email lists and payments is another area I’m no expert in. He includes management of multiple revenue streams, maximizing revenue streams and marketing on a limited budget. All in all this book provided a plethora of extremely useful information. I recommend it to authors who have great books but need to sell them!
