Part of my continuing education program as a wedding planner includes keeping up with the latest wedding inspiration blogs and planning books. When I came across Alessandra Macaluso’s “Bitch’s Bridal Bible,†I had no idea what to expect, given the title. First off, I was unsure of the target audience – was this a read for the unapologetic bridezilla, or a guide on how not to become one? Needless to say, I was intrigued and quickly bought the Kindle version. I soon found out that the book is about the craziness of wedding planning…and a whole lot more!Alessandra (Ali) does a fantastic job of describing and identifying the proverbial characters and situations that certainly every bride encounters along the wedding-planning journey. At the same time, she provides the reader with a slew of wedding planning tips, as well as real-world advice designed to help any bride be better prepared for her new life.The book is cleverly organized in “Tables†(like the ones you will have at your reception venue, not literally, but you get the point), which provide a “floor plan†of common situations you will encounter as soon as you have that sparkling ring on your finger. One of my favorite Tables is #2, the “Pre-Planning Checklist.†According to Ali, “While no one wants to invite Debbie Downer to the wedding, I wouldn’t be able to present this book to you in its most complete, honest form without saving her a seat this table.†Another highlight of the book is “The Tough Questions†section, which delves into the fundamental issue of whether you and your fiancee are truly made for each other.For her book, Ali interviewed various experts in relationships, including marriage counselors, therapists, and mediators, whose must-have pearls of wisdom are perfectly sprinkled throughout. Ali also passes along personal stories of her own wedding-planning ride – many of which are a hoot! – as well as the experiences of other couples. Hilarious, heartfelt, brutally honest, & USEFUL! Every Bride- to- be needs this book. And then every mother of the bride, Maid of Honor, etc... I have given several as gifts most recently to one of my close friends whose bridal party I am a part of, and she has said she has gotten the best advice from this godsend of a book and it has been one of her favorite gifts. It truly covers every topic with a plethora of information! Not only that, but it serves as a planner of sorts, making sure you don't sweat the small stuff, but also don't forget the small stuff! I LOVE how the book touches upon the concept of "Happily ever after" as well, this book truly is the real deal, and even if you have been married for 15 years, you still need to read it. There's no way to plan a wedding without it.The Author is knowledgable, sassy & most importantly, real! You will feel like your friend is smacking common sense into you....get this book!
It is hard to know in this crazy world what is true. The truth somehow becomes especially complicated to discern during major events in our lives... like planning a wedding! You can get lost in the veil's sheer, blighted by lies ingrained in your mind and spoken from lofty soapboxes. The truth comes in many forms. It can be communicated and interpreted in many ways, but when the soul recognizes what is true the feeling of enlightenment is unmistakable. How do you put in to written words what the soul knows to be true? I am not sure, but Alessandra Macaluso has been blessed with the gift to communicate the cold hard hilarious truth and give you a transformative perspective on what this life event is really all about.I count my lucky stars that I read The Bitch's Bridal Bible before I got engaged. I read this book as a maid of honor helping my sister plan her wedding. Not only was it a necessary resource to me then, but now as I plan my own wedding it has more than anything helped me to stay grounded. The Bitch's Bridal Bible has become my staple engagement gift for any bride-to-be.
What a wonderful author's tone. She tell the readers about her experience and her tone of laughter love and marriage is still alive and kicking!! Oh and I absolutely loved how the table of contents were listed by name plate to show unique, talented and creatively strong writing skills.
If you have a wedding in your future, this book is a must. I have three daughters and ever time one gets engaged, i send them a copy. The sense of humor will help you get through the many challenges that arise and erupt in the planning of any wedding.
A truly gifted author who writes a perfect blend of funny, practical and realistic in this bridal planning guide. Even though my wedding and those of my daughters happened years ago, I could still relate to the anecdotes about family, friends and how you as a bride might navigate those planning waters. Excellent read by my new favorite author.
I am married but I bought this book for my soon to be sister in law and decided to give it a read. Wow. I wish I had this book when I was planning my wedding. Alessandra's personal experiences and input from other brides, is truly relatable, hilarious, raw and touching. What a mix just like the emotions that almost every bride has had at one point during this wonderfully crazy journey to love. I highly recommend this read to all those brides to be and newlyweds!
Great read! Having already gotten married I can relate to so many topics in this book! The author touches on so many issues that all brides encounter and gives insightful and honest tips and advice with a heaping side of humor. I highly recommend this book!
