What a treasure this book has been! I absolutely love it. Bob Richter has a wonderfully unique point of view. This book is not only a how-to guide to decorating the home for Christmas, but it's also a loving history of Christmas itself. I was fascinated to hear the story of Christmas. I loved the photographs and the rich details in this book. Some of the pictures will take your breath away. It's a gorgeous celebration of America. I also loved reading Bob's personal story and why he loves Christmas so much. There's great tips and tricks to finding the best deals on decorations. There's also tips to hunting for antique (and not-so antique) ornaments at places like flea markets.It's so nice to see a holiday like Christmas still celebrated and embraced in this book. It's a great look at traditions and history. It will make you nostalgic and bring back happy memories of home. It's also a great gift for Christmas! I bought three as gifts. Love it! Get it.
For ALL Christmas decor lovers... and especially design-wise vintage fans... THIS is the book to own and give this year! I try each year to find something for those folks who love Christmas, but seem to have everything. This year, this is it. Bob's book is informative, entertaining, and fun. I found several, several design ideas for my home and would recommend this highly for you Christmas decorating planners. You will not be disappointed. A perfect, affordable, and tasteful gift. :)
The rich, luscious imagery of this book, starting with the cover, and the straight-forward call out to Christmas is what got me. As much as I love Christmas, I wasn't really looking to change the way I decorate. I bought a case of books to use as my break-out holiday hostess or thank you gift. What I love about it is that the cover is so lush and juicy that I don't even want to wrap it. Just a big red, green or gold bow and I'm going to be done. I love the thought of handing this festive looking book to everyone from party hostesses to my nail tech. I will no longer be bringing the 12th bottle of wine, wondering if my host even knows I brought it. I did read the book, and the information is great -- but I'm most excited about being ready for the holidays, having a unique and lovely little gift to take, and no longer racing to the wine store and spending too much money because I wasn't prepared. (I will also stand up the book on the sink counter, add a red candle and consider my powder room decorated for the season!)
Mr. Richter of the PBS show Market Warriors has a great eye and an amazing aesthetic. He has written a comprehensive book about Christmas collectibles that is a collectible in itself! With beautiful photography and highly specific annotation, all lovers of Christmas will want to give this book to themselves and to their friends and family. There is joy on every page! Thank you, Bob Richter, for writing this wonderful book. I will buy and give this book away many, many times.

Wonderfully written and great information. I love Christmas as the author of this book does as well. He offers many photos that will inspire you to love decorating for Christmas. Richter offers some good advice and information that you will find very helpful.
I purchased a book for myself and my mother. I can't express in words how much I love this book. I love vintage Xmas decorations and Bob summed it up the joy of collecting in one book. My mother grew up in the 40's and 50's and it brings back so many memories of her childhood. This is a must coffee table book for the Xmas holidays.
"Very Vintage" has very attractive photos of ornaments and decor. Also many helpful hints for finding and using vintage ornaments, cards, wrap and decorations for yourself or as gifts. Unfortunately, it also has a number of distracting typos, repetitions and a few inaccuracies. For example, on page 19, the "bisque German Father Christmas figure" was actually made in Japan during the 1920s or '30s; the facial features are a dead giveaway. Otherwise, Bob Richter has wonderful enthusiasm and creativity.
